Halloween Fundraiser Dinner Dance Costume Competition Winner
Sabina was our First Prize Halloween Costume Winner, for her gorgeously detailed homemade Spider Queen costume; her ensemble featured a giant huntsman, and many tiny spiders applied across her skirt, hair and accessories. Sabina said of her inspiration, “You know when you try to catch a big spider and it hides under something, and you turn it over… and there are a thousand baby spiders that run away!”
First Prize was a hardback edition of ‘The Year’s Best Australian Fantasy & Horror 2012’ (Ticonderoga Publications), edited by Liz Grzyb and Talie Helene – with stunning cover and layout by designer extraordinaire, Russell B. Farr.
Sabina was thrilled to receive the book, and commented, “I love horror! People think I’m weird, but when there is a thunderstorm, there is nothing I love more than putting on a horror movie for atmosphere and being snug in the storm.” She attended the dinner dance with her husband; their first date was the original cinema release of The Exorcist.
All proceeds from the night went to support YoungCare, an organisation that helps children with serious illnesses move from aged care facilities, and into age appropriate care situations.
